Frequently Asked Questions

How do the FILTER-ON work ?

FILTER-ON units & equipments work on the principle of two-stage electrostatic precipitation. It consists of plate type electrodes across which high voltage electric field is applied. Also it has two sections i.e. Ionization Section & Collection Section. When the air stream passes through ionization section, the particles in air are ionized and are charged positively, due to high voltage electric field.

When positively charged particles enter collection section, these are repelled by positive electrode and are attracted to negative electrode. These particles get neutralized on negative electrode and remain deposited on the negative electrode plate. Thus the particles are separated from air stream and air filtration is achieved.

Is it necessary to provide high voltage electric supply to the unit ?

FILTER-ON units are equipped with inbuilt high voltage power pack, so it does not required High Voltage Supply. The units require standard single-phase 230-v AC 50 Hz supply. The power pack in the unit converts this incoming supply to the required high voltages.

How much power is required to our these units ?

The power required for Electrostatic Precipitator is very low i.e.

up to 6000 M³ / hr.

Capacity

25 watts

6000 - 24000 M³ / hr.

Capacity

90 watts

24000 - 32000 M³ / hr.

Capacity

180 watts

36000 - 72000 M³ / hr.

Capacity

270 watts

What are the risks / hazards associated with high voltage used in FILTER-ON units ?
Maximum high voltage generated in 12 kv DC, which is the range of voltage which is used in many household appliances also like Television sets, PC etc. However all the care is ensured in design and manufacturing to completely eliminate any possible hazard.
The access doors of the units are fitted with door safety switches so that the supply get immediately cut off, when any door is opened. Also the body of the unit is connected to ground. The high voltage components are designed to withstand short circuit loads and the controlling circuit ensures proper regulation of voltages in routine operation as well as short circuit operations.

As such virtually there are no hazards / risks regarding the high voltage in FILTER-ON units

• What are the limitations of FILTER-ON ESP type Air Filters ?

Since the unit works on high voltage, it cannot be used in fire hazardous area, inflammable type fumes such as petroleum and oil refineries as well as VOC (Volatile Organic Chemicals) type - pollutants.

What are the maintenance requirements of the units / systems ?

Depending upon application and concentration of pollutants, it is required to clean the ESP type filter cell periodically. It is advisable to follow a preventive maintenance schedule for this activity. Also other checks of indications, electrical components required to check once in a month so as to ensure trouble free operations of the unit.
